The story behind the market
Built from community.
Made for connection.
IM — The Indigenous Market helps people discover Indigenous-owned businesses, goods, services, and experiences—then support those businesses directly.

Our purpose
Not another place competing with Indigenous businesses. A place that helps people find them.
Indigenous-owned businesses deserve visibility on their own terms. IM makes it easier for customers to find these businesses, discover what they offer, and visit them directly. Business owners can claim their profiles, share approved photos, and help shape how they are represented.

Meet the founder
Paris Albertsen
IM was founded by Paris Albertsen, a Tlingit Alaska Native from Southeast Alaska, with a mission to make Indigenous-owned businesses easier to discover, support, and connect.
From artists and neighborhood shops to tourism, professional services, and tribally owned enterprises, the goal is to open more doors for Indigenous businesses while keeping ownership, sales, and business relationships where they belong—with the vendors themselves.
This is a personal story about the inspiration behind IM—not a claim that the people or cultural organizations shown in these photographs endorse the platform.
More than a marketplace
Rooted in community

How the marketplace works
Discovery first. Business owners in control.
IM introduces people to Indigenous-owned businesses and their goods, services, and experiences. Shoppers follow links to each business's official website for purchases, bookings, payment, and fulfillment. IM does not charge commissions on purchases made after a visitor clicks through.
Some listings come from public directory research and have not yet been claimed. Inclusion does not imply a business has endorsed IM, and collaboration programs are voluntary. We publish photographs only under recorded business permissions or other suitable image rights, and respond to corrections and removal requests.
